Am Samstag wurden in New York erstmals die vom US-Sender Comedy Central ins Leben gerufenen “Comedy Awards” verliehen. Als Beste(r) Schauspieler/Schauspielerin – TV wurden Alec Baldwin (“30 Rock”) und Kristen Wiig (“Saturday Night Live”) ausgezeichnet , in der Filmkategorie gewannen Tina Fey (“Date Night”) und Zach Galifianakis (“Dinner for Schmucks”). Gemeinsam mit ihrem Kollegen Robert Carlock durfte Fey zudem die Auszeichnung für das beste Drehbuch – TV entgegen nehmen.

“Modern Family” erhielt Preise für die beste Comedy – TV und die beste Regie. Der Award in der Kategorie “Late Night Comedy Serie” ging an “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart”. David Letterman wurde mit dem , dem “Johnny Carson Award for Comedic Excellence”, dem Ehrenpreis, geehrt.
